Cincinnati, January 14, 2000-Cincinnati Financial Corporation
(Nasdaq: CINF)- Hayden D. Davis, Jr.,
president of The Cincinnati Casualty Company (CCC) from 1982 through 1988, died
January 13, 2000.
Prior to becoming president of CCC, Cincinnati Financial's
direct bill property casualty insurance company, he was senior vice president
and general counsel for CCC and its parent company, The Cincinnati Insurance
Company (CIC). He joined CIC as its first claims manager in 1957, having
earned a law degree from Chase College of Law. Davis was a decorated Army
veteran, earning a Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star for service in
Germany and Korea.
CFC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
John J. Schiff, Jr., commented, "Hayden was the architect of
CIC's system of local field claims representatives and its personal claims
service philosophy. In the early years, he would have just a few claims to
approve for payment once a week. Now about a third of our 2,800 associates work
on the claims side of our operations and we pay out millions each week. Hayden
personally hired and trained many talented people who later became our key
executives, and he built the foundation for the national acclaim we enjoy today
for responding to policyholders and claimants promptly and fairly."
