Dividends and Stock Splits
As investments, insurance companies are generally regarded as conservative and long-term.
The $1.92 annual, regular dividend for 2016 represents the 56th consecutive year of increasing cash dividends to shareholders. This fact enhances CFC's appeal for many investors.
On November 20, 2015, the board of directors declared a special cash dividend of $0.46 per share in addition to the regular, quarterly cash dividend declared that same day.
After the 5 percent stock dividend was paid in April 2005, a shareholder who purchased one share of The Cincinnati Insurance Company before 1957 would own 2,146 shares of Cincinnati Financial Corporation if all shares from stock dividends and splits were held.
